Ingredients

  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 150 g sugar
  • 120 g unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 120 ml milk
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 g chocolate chips
  • 1 pinch of salt

Method

  1. Prepare Your Space. Preheat your oven to 170°C / 340°F. Grease the cake pan or line it to ensure the cake doesn’t stick. Bring the eggs and milk to room temperature for a smoother batter. This simple preparation helps your cake recipe bake evenly and rise beautifully.
  2. Mix the Base. Combine the melted butter and sugar in a large bowl, whisking until the mixture is smooth and shiny. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. At this stage, the mixture should look creamy and unified, a good sign for a soft crumb.
  3. Incorporate the Dry Ingredients. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add them gradually to the batter, alternating with the milk. Mix gently, just until combined. Overmixing is the fastest way to lose that tender texture, so treat the batter kindly.
  4. Add the Chocolate Chips. Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula. Choose dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or a blend, depending on your taste. This is where the cake becomes a true chocolate dessert, rich but still balanced.
  5. Bake to Perfection. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs. Let the cake cool slightly before unmolding. The aroma alone will tell you that this easy chocolate chip cake is worth the wait. Baking is not about rushing; it is about trusting the process and enjoying every step along the way.
